When Kimura Foundry America opened its greenfield facility in Shelbyville, Indiana, in 2018, it built the operation around 3D printing technology from ExOne. The complete end-to-end foundry service facility features ExOne S-Max and S-Print systems to print sand molds and cores meeting the toughest requirements.
Kimura says the highlights of using patented ExOne technology include:
• Five day turnaround for most raw castings, including gray iron castings, ductile iron castings, Ni-resist castings, stainless steel castings, aluminum castings and other specialty alloys
• High-quality castings with complex shapes and wall thicknesses as low as 1.5 mm. The final products will have dimensional accuracy of ±0.5 mm and exceptionally smooth surfaces and zero defects
