GM award for Pierburg's Czech plant Ústí nad Labem

Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic: Pierburg's Czech plant, Pierburg, s.r.o, recently received General Motors' Supplier Quality Excellence Award for the exceptional product and delivery quality of its solenoid valves, exhaust-gas flaps, and secondary-air pumps.

This was the third time that the Supplier Quality Excellence Award has gone to outstanding suppliers. Quality Manager Tomas Petru accepted the award personally at a formal ceremony held at Adam Opel AG in Rüsselsheim. Sascha Günther, Vice President of Pierburg s.r.o., commented: "We are very happy at this prize which has been awarded to us on account of zero defects in our deliveries over the past 18 months. The award underscores that our constant efforts regarding production and logistics transparency have paid off. We will continue doing everything possible to maintain this high standard." General Motors' awards have gone to altogether 310 supplier locations in Europe. The suppliers must comply with strict quality criteria and undergo regular audits by General Motors.

Pierburg's Czech plant has a workforce of around 300 making emission-control and air-management products. In 2013, just under 2 million EGR modules and over 2.5 million solenoid valves were produced. The affiliated company Pierburg S.A. in Abadiano, Spain, has likewise received this coveted award. Both companies belong to the Mechatronics division of KSPG AG, a global auto-industry supplier.
