A complete IMF no bake flaskless molding system is starting production at Soucy Belgen Foundry in Quebec, Canada. The system produces very large molds (2000x2600x1000/1000 mm), a future modification will be capable of 10 complete molds per hour. This automated molding system will be controlled by IMF software. This installation includes two newly designed shakeouts, and a thirty ton per hour sand reclamation plant. The system will produce nodular castings up to five tons for various markets.
IMF Green sand total reclamation
Waupaca Foundry, one of the world8217;s largest iron casting producers with six foundries in the United States has installed an innovative IMF reclamation system. This system will take green sand from Waupaca8217;s molding waste streams and convert it to useable sand for cold box and warm box core production. This system completely eliminates the bentonite, sea coal, and resins from cores and reconditions the sand to a condition 8220;better than new sand8221;. This system will be installed at Waupaca8217;s plant #3 and is capable of producing 2.5 tons/hour. It will be capable of testing sand from all of the foundries in the group and evaluating additional benefits the system offers such as elimination of expansion additives and recycling active bentonite for reintroduction in their molding sand.
Core production made using reclaimed sand at Union Foundry
Union Foundry in Anniston, Alabama is operating a six ton per hour IMF green sand to core sand reclamation system. This system; the largest of it8217;s kind in the world, has been converting green sand from Union8217;s vertical and horizontal molding lines for use in the production of cold box cores. The system started making cores in June of 2012 and has processed approximately 7000 tons of good core sand, with yields in excess of 80%.
