The investment represents the largest expansion project in the company’s history. Founded in 1891 as a small family-run foundry and machine shop under the name Georgia Iron Works, GIW has been supplying slurry pumps to Florida’s phosphate industry since 1914 and became part of the KSB Group in 1996.
The new foundry is a central element of a comprehensive site expansion that also includes a distribution center, additional heat treatment and cleaning facilities, advanced CNC machining, and an assembly center. These investments will more than triple GIW’s current production capacity. Construction of the new distribution center is still underway and scheduled for completion by mid-2016.
