It is reported that American scrap exports totaled 2.936 million tonnes in January to February 2009 period, up by 2.2% YoY as against 2.874 million tons in the same time of last year. Among them, China was the largest import country at 807,000 tonnes, accounted for 27.5%, up by 147.9% YoY. Korea imported 446,000 tonnes, up by 2 times than the same time of last year. India imported 239,000 tonnes of scrap from America, up by 2.3 times than the same time of last year. Shipments of scrap to Taiwan reached 180,000 tonnes, down by 63.8% YoY than the same time of last year.
