Pressemitteilung | Reading time: min

At the 31st Ledebur Colloquium last week, Institute Director Prof. Dr.-Ing Gotthard Wolf and Dr.-Ing. Claudia Dommaschk welcomed around 200 participants in Freiberg.

Currently, 15 young scientists are working on new research projects, which once again cover the entire range of the Institute's main areas of work from metallurgy to new melting techniques for light metals to molding material regeneration.

In addition to numerous interesting lectures and the convivial foundry evening, this time the focus was also on two new facilities at the Foundry Institute.

On the one hand, two plasma melting furnaces, with which projects for the CO²-free melting of non-ferrous metals are being processed, and on the other hand, one could marvel at the new sand regeneration plant from Finn Recycling, which was completed on schedule. This plant was attached to foundry hall 3 in the outdoor area to save space. The gas supply is via liquid gas.

In cooperation with the Finnish company Finn Recycling, it is now possible to expand the competence of the Foundry Institute in the area of molding sand regeneration. (Separate article to follow)

As always, the Ledebur Colloquium was a complete success and has a firm place as a networking summit in the annual calendar. Prof. Carl Justus Heckmann from Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences was elected Honorary Foundryman of the Year 2022 to the applause of the participants.
