02.11.2022 The Conference of Minister Presidents is meeting this afternoon. The WirtschaftsVereinigung Metalle, with its Chief Executive Franziska Erdle, is sending the following appeal to the Minister Presidents:

"An industrial electricity price of € 0.13 is not sufficient for our industry! With such a decision, the federal government would be deliberately opposing the energy-intensive primary production of materials in Germany.

But where are the materials we need for the energy turnaround, the mobility turnaround, the health sector and the food industry supposed to come from then?

We must not increase our dependencies any further and must be able to continue producing in Germany. There needs to be a hardship clause for energy-intensive production that is not capped from the outset at just €4 billion.

Please stand up for this in the Minister Presidents' Conference this afternoon!"

The WirtschaftsVereinigung Metalle (WVMetalle) represents the economic policy concerns of the non-ferrous metals industry with around 105,000 employees in 625 companies. In 2021, the industry generated a production of 7 million tonnes and a turnover of 66.3 billion euros.
