After 30 days of closure because of COVID-19, RUFFINI S.A. has came back to switch on the melting tower to restart with the production of casted parts.
The well-known diecasting company from Barcelona works in parallel with the main customers located in Germany so the deliveries to Europe has started again.
“The safety of the employees is the most important thing but also we have to keep in mind that we need to open again the industry as soon as possible,“ told us a company representative.
They have implemented a lot of measures in the plant to ensure there is a minimum risk of possible infection and employees are really happy to work again. Ruffini hopes to also help suppliers to open their factories and start changing the economic situation with the butterfly effect. Ruffini, with 150 employees, is a smaller company hoping to receive the same governmental support as the larger companies to stop this unreal situation.
RUFFINI, S.A. was founded in 1964 in order to meet the growing market need in high pressure die-castings of aluminium.
With its headquarters located in Barcelona, it is an independent aluminium foundry which focuses on development, production and sale of high quality cast metal parts, mainly to the automotive sector.
It ensures customers the best technical and productive capacity as well as a professional staff in all processes. The entire plant is committed to the standards required in the market.
Facilities have a total floor area of 22,000 m2 and a machine park with closing forces ranging from 500 to 2,500 tonnes. For each tonnage is a minimum of 2 machines in order to guarantee the production in case of breakdown.
The company’s total production capacity is about 10,000 tonnes per year.
RUFFINI, S.A. also offers the possibility of manufacturing the mould in its main offices at ICMA and the machining of the pieces into finished part at ALUMEC.
RUFFINI, S.A.'s furnaces have a melting capacity of 12,000 tonnes of aluminium per year and counts with all necessary technical means (spectrometer, degassing through impeller device) to guarantee the quality of the molten aluminium.
RUFFINI, S.A. gladly visits its customers’ facilities to offer support during the development of the product. Therefore they can work more cost-efficient and improve the final quality of the product.
