Johannes Kappes takes over the role of Secretary of the Commission for Economics and Statistics. Kappes succeeds Tillman van de Sand, who is taking on a new role within the BDG.
Tillman van de Sand has been an integral part of CAEF for the past three years. We sincerely thank him for his work and wish him all the best in his new position within the BDG.
Johannes Kappes has a strong academic foundation, acquired at both the Albert Ludwigs University in Freiburg and the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf. His professional career includes positions at Deutsche Bank in Luxembourg and Ernst & Young in Switzerland and Germany. Kappes joined CAEF in August 2023,
He brings with him a fresh perspective and a determination to advance the Association's goals. One of the priorities of the new Secretary of the Economic and Statistical Commission is to improve the visibility of the European foundry industry.
In doing so, the officers intend to work tirelessly to support and advocate for their members in an ever-changing economic landscape.
Background information on CAEF:
CAEF is the umbrella organisation of the national European foundry associations. Founded in 1953, the organisation has 22 European member states and promotes the economic, technical, legal and social interests of the European foundry industry.
At the same time, CAEF carries out activities aimed at the development of the national foundry industries and the coordination of their common international interests. The General Secretariat has been based in Düsseldorf since 1997
CAEF represents 4 400 European foundries. Nearly 260 000 employees generate a turnover of 39 billion euros. European foundries recruit 20 000 workers and engineers every year. The main customer sectors include the automotive industry, general engineering and construction, and the electrotechnical industry. There is no branch of industry that can do without the use of castings.
