Formnext 2024: A bright start to the new trade fair year

Formnext has made an excellent start to the new trade fair year: Despite a rather subdued economic situation in Germany and global political challenges, around 574 companies from 35 nations had already registered for the world's leading trade fair for additive manufacturing and the next generation of industrial production by the end of February.

"The very good registration figures for Formnext reflect the relevance of additive manufacturing for the entire industry," says a delighted Sascha F. Wenzler, Vice President Formnext at the organiser Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH. "After all, AM is a technology that makes it possible to meet current challenges and tap into new economic potential. At the same time, Formnext also reflects the continued strong growth of the global AM industry, which paves the way for the industrial future with numerous innovations and applications every year."

With the current registration figures, Formnext 2024 even exceeds the already very good data from the previous year. Of the exhibitors registered so far, 64 per cent come from abroad; in addition to Germany, the most important exhibitor countries are the USA, China, the UK, France, the Netherlands, Italy and Spain. The exhibitors so far include the world's additive manufacturing elite, with companies such as 3D Systems, Additive Industries, AddUp, Altair, Arburg, BASF, BigRep, Bosch, Carbon, DMG Mori, Dyemansion, EOS, Evonik, Farsoon, Formlabs, GE Additive, Henkel, Höganäs, HP, Keyence, Linde, Markforged, Materialise, Nexa3D, Nikon SLM Solutions, Renishaw, Ricoh, Sandvik, Siemens, Sisma, SMS Group, Stratasys, Trumpf, Velo3D and Voxeljet.

Wenzler also attributes the fact that Formnext can continue its impressive success story even in rather complex times to the excellent business opportunities that the world of additive manufacturing and Formnext offer - not only for manufacturers of 3D printing systems, but also for companies along the entire process chain. "We are seeing more and more companies from traditional industrial sectors discovering the 3D printing industry as an exciting sales market for themselves and wanting to benefit from the predominantly double-digit annual growth rates."

Rainer Lotz, President EMEA at Renishaw and Chairman of the Formnext Exhibitor Advisory Board, confirms the relevance of Formnext: "We recognised the potential of additive manufacturing many years ago. Since then, Formnext has been the annual focal point for us to present our innovations in the AM sector as well as the overall process, especially in the area of quality assurance, and to drive forward the industrialisation of the technology."

This development is also emphasised by the numerous new exhibitors, including large and renowned companies such as Bechtle AG, PLC and Schaeffler Special Machinery. Daniel Pokorny, Head of Communication Technology, Innovation & Digitalisation at Schaeffler, explains the first-time registration at Formnext: "Schaeffler Special Machinery will be presenting its in-house developed multi-material 3D printing machine for industrial production at the trade fair. The Schaeffler Group's mechanical engineering company will also use sample parts to demonstrate their diverse application potential for sectors such as medical technology and e-mobility. By exhibiting at Formnext for the first time, Motion Technology Company is demonstrating its clear goal of establishing itself as a reliable technology partner in the growing market for additive manufacturing in the long term."

The majority of the new exhibitors, who come from a total of 25 countries, are also based in traditional sectors and offer industrial and software solutions as well as measurement technology, automation and engineering solutions. However, specialised AM products such as innovative 3D printers and materials will not be neglected either. Formnext 2024 therefore already promises many new solutions and applications for numerous industries, meaning that Frankfurt will once again become the global centre of 3D printing and innovative solutions for the future of industrial manufacturing from 19 - 22 November 2024.
