Magaldi‘s 90th Anniversary: Announcement of Agreement with Mitsubishi

Reading time: min

On October 7th, Magaldi Group celebrated its 90th anniversary with those who contributed to the success of the company which, from a small factory in Southern Italy, has grown to become an international industry with offices on 4 continents and thousands of projects around the world.

Employees, local and national authorities, eminent personalities from the business world and some of the most important clients from all over the world, took part in the event to celebrate the past, present and future of a family and a company that is pride of the Italian entrepreneurship and a bastion of the Made-in-Italy abroad.

The main topic of the celebration day was on invention and innovation - pillars of Magaldi’s philosophy – as the company invests 3.5% of its annual turnover in R&D, to meet ever new and challenging needs of a constantly evolving market.

The strong commitment to innovation was sealed by the announcement of an agreement with the Japanese giant Mitsubishi. The agreement, concerning the technical and commercial development of STEM - the world's first concentrated solar power (CSP) plant using sand to store thermal energy - will project the Italian firm towards an increasingly global dimension in the renewable energy sector.
The celebrations for such special anniversary were articulated in three moments, set in symbolic places for the company's history.

In Buccino - the family's hometown - Magaldi opened its production facility to show the processes underlying the production of its proprietary technologies.

The second step was a conference held in the City Hall, in Salerno, where Magaldi based its headquarters, beating heart of all engineering and R&D activities.

Illustrious guests from the political (Vincenzo Boccia, President of Confindustria; Vincenzo Napoli, Mayor of Salerno; Valeria Fascione, Councilor of the Campania Region for internationalization), academic (Prof. Luigi Nicolais, Emeritus Professor “Federico II” University) and industrial scenario (Dr. Yamauchi and Prof. Kakaras for Mitsubishi, Dr. Ozeki of Kawasaki Heavy Industries) took part in a round table to discuss about technological development and internationalization processes.

Finally, celebrations ended with a gala dinner – which was also attended by the Campania Region President, Hon. Vincenzo De Luca - in the enchanting Maritime Station of Salerno, the last workpiece of the famous architect Zaha Hadid. An iconic structure projected towards the sea and suspended towards the sky, the Maritime Station fully embodies the spirit of modernity and innovation that drives Magaldi's entrepreneurial philosophy.
