Casting simulation professionals discuss advancements in technology

Casting simulation professionals from Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and Vietnam were excited to join the MAGMA Engineering Asia-Pacific Pte Ltd - User Group Meeting 2015. For the first time in its almost 20 year history the Singapore based company MAGMA Engineering Asia Pacific hosted this prestigious event in Malaysia. The excellent choice of venue was the Traders Hotel in Johor where the event took place on March 19th. Around 15 MAGMA customers joined to share their experiences with MAGMA5. The event was opened by a speech of Mr.

Christian Kleeberg, the Group Managing Director of MAGMA in Asia sharing some insight on the upcoming exiting new release of MAGMA5 version 5.3. As details have not been disclosed to the public yet the users appreciated the privileged first glimpse at the new version, which will be released in the coming months. The introduction was followed by several case studies presented by MAGMA Asia’s experienced engineers and benefits as well as technical advances in the software shared. A Live demonstration of the new MAGMA5 release 5.3 was the highlight of the day which was very well received by the audience.

In the Q&A session after the live demo participants posted critical questions to MAGMA’s engineers about technical advances of the world’s most used casting process simulation software. The evolution of multicore hardware, fully supported by MAGMA5 was the next topic discussed and the results of running MAGMA5 on a 36 core workstation clearly showed how new technological advances are not an option but a necessity to increase productivity in competitive daily operations. A user presentation of one of MAGMA’s customers with a very unconventional way to solve the casting defect surprised and astounded existing MAGMA users and attendees. The meeting was closed with a second Q&A session where MAGMA users took advantage of the closed environment to exchange ideas and advances in their usage of MAGMA5, as well as having some in-depth discussions with MAGMA’s engineers from ferrous and nonferrous side.
