As Alex Garner from Sheboygan Press reported, the construction on an estimated $18 million expansion project at a Nemak facility will be finished in autumn 2024.

The automotive lightweight die-cast manufacturer is building a 49,500-square-foot addition on the north side of its Sheboygan Business Park facility, 4243 Gateway Drive. There will be 35,300 square feet dedicated to die-casting production and storage with two 4,500-ton die-cast machines and equipment. The additional space will also have an electrical building, compressor room, dock area and offices.

The new die-cast machines will be connected to the existing facility’s furnaces to move molten aluminium. The project could be finished by September, after breaking ground last summer. Nemak has two sites in Sheboygan, the other at 3101 S. Taylor Drive.

Long-term sustainability and future growth

The expansion will help “ensure long-term sustainability and future growth” for Nemak in Sheboygan, as the automotive industry transitions to electric vehicles and calls for larger die-cast equipment, according to the application.
