140th anniversary of Luitpoldhütte Amberg

More than 1,000 visitors attended the celebrations of the 140th anniversary of Luitpoldhütte Amberg on 7 and 8 July. The foundry - which employs around 500 people - opened its doors on both days to show visitors closely how, where and what Luitpoldhütte produces: Castings for the international market in the field of agricultural machinery, engines, compressors and industrial areas.

Although Prime Minister Markus Söder's video greeting did not work as planned, the speaker and Minister of Finance Albert Füracker found the right words to mention the importance of Luitpoldhütte for the Free State of Bavaria: "If there is an invitation for this company, a member of the state government has to be there. 140 years ago, Bavaria was poor, today we are at the top of Europe." Füracker also described Luitpoldhütte as an international, modern and efficient flagship company that stands for high quality and a wide range of products. Briefly: a company that combines traditional craftsmanship with innovation.

"We are happy and grateful that we have companies like Luitpoldhütte that did a successful work for generations," Füracker stated. In the future, the company wants to invest more in automation processes, such as 3D printing. However, according to Füracker, there still remains a lot of work. "That is why it is important to have skilled personnel and to offer them career perspectives."

Being acquired by the Ogepar Group, a holding company based in Luxembourg, was quite a stroke of luck for Luitpoldhütte. Its boss, Emmanuel Froidbise, also participated at the celebrations. According to Froidbise, the objectives are to increase productivity, stabilise the working atmosphere and invest in two new electric furnaces as well as in machinery and labour.

In the future, Luitpoldhütte wants to focus more on the environment by covering its energy needs with biochar and solar power. For Managing Director Frank Schild, is this the key to success: "We have to make ourselves more attractive. Just delivering good parts is not good enough nowadays."
