The start of a new decade and a successful EUROGUSS at the beginning gave us hope that the year 2020 would turn out to be a little better than was expected in many places. And then Corona hit, the Covid-19 virus, and really threw a wrench in the works, reports Helmut Geiger, head of Geiger + Co.Grubber-Chemie GmbH from Heilbronn. In the case of Geiger, which has positioned itself as an absolute specialist in the die casting sector and only operates in this market, they were particularly hard hit.
EUROGUSS had just presented the opportunity to discuss the most important things with existing and new customers before the Corona-related shutdown temporarily ensured, bringing with it an eerie silence.
But as of September, things have been almost normal again, reports Helmut Geiger. The company's application engineers are now busy and clarifying customer questions on site.
The head of the company is all the more pleased, because the year that had started so well now seems to again be getting off to a normal start.
Award-winning Trennex customers
While still at EUROGUSS, the Heilbronn company was able to congratulate Hengst SE, a long-standing Trennex customer, on winning 1st prize in the 2020 International Aluminum Die-Casting Competition for its oil-coolant module.
The same applies to the company Georg FRANK GmbH, which, as a loyal Trennex customer, won 1st prize in the zinc die-casting competition organized by the Zinc Initiative in the field of electrical engineering for a conductor rail for ebm Papst fans.
Congratulations also to the company Andreas Stihl AG & Co. KG, which was awarded the innovation prize for a magnesium piston (Leg. MRI) in the magnesium die-casting area, which is used as an e-mobility component or filigree fitting component.
In the last third of 2020, family entrepreneur Helmut Geiger, who also brought his son Christian with him to the interview, wants to concentrate fully on looking after his customers whenever possible, including with one of the application engineers on site, because customer proximity is independent of the pandemic especially important in times when customer requirements change.
He hopes that the die-casting industry in Europe will be stable over the winter, but also that the markets in China, India and Mexico will be spared from severe adverse effects.
